Bowl : Drawn trumpet. Engraved with typical rose with open and closed buds and a star. The cutting has also been later gilded but this has been worn
Stem : Air Twist
Foot : Conical
Pontil : Snapped
Glass Type : Lead 
Size : 16.6 cm height.  6.8cm diameter bowl. 7.4cm diameter foot 
Condition : No chips or cracks. There is a manufacturing flaw in the the foot. It undulated and there is a large piece of clinker in the rim
Restoration : None

Eric Knowles Comments: Such is the demand for all things Jacobite that anything engraved with a flower is nowadays described as being of possible Jacobite significance. A decanter was recently brought to my attention. engraved with the letters IHS and a passion flower. The vendor explained that the I was a disguised J and this should be interpreted as His Highness James Stuart. The most well known of all Christograms intentionally misinterpreted.

It does get better in a further case a rummer engraved with an Oak tree became Jacobite on the grounds that The Young Pretender used such a tree to secrete himself after the battle of Culloden. Having been there myself I can confirm that like most moors it is almost devoid of trees and secondly the tree in which Charles II hid was located in Staffordshire.  The leaders of the Jacobite army did allegedly meet beneath an oak tree near Derby and decided return North.

I also take umbrage with the description of the Jacobite army fighting the English. Firstly the Government Army at Culloden was comprised of mostly Lowland Scots. English . Irish and continental mercenaries were well represented within The Jacobite Army. We shall do some more myth busting in due course.
