Description
A superb Georgian Jacobite Engraved Champagne Flute Glass c1760
Although was never used to toast the coronation of the Old or Young Pretender this is a great glass. The engraving shows the classic combination of a single rose with polished detailing and single closed bud. The bowl has slightly flared rim. The stem has a pair of spiral threads outside a central gauze column. The threads become progressively thicker towards the base of the bowl and the separation between the threads increases higher up the stem. Conical foot and snapped pontil.
This is in immaculate condition. No chips cracks or restoration. The glass has all the tooling marks. inclusions and excellent hue.
English lead it measures 7 11/16th inches tall with a 2 5/8th diameter bowl and 3 inch foot
