Description
A superb Georgian Jacobite engraved air twist wine glass c1750.
The pointed round funnel bowl has been engraved with a rose and single closed bud and leaves. The multi spiral air twist stem has been well executed with very fine evenly spaced filaments. It stands on a domed foot with snapped pontil. There has been much discussion about the interpretation of “Jacobite” roses and buds with previous glasses and their interpretation. This may be still be viewed on sold listings. The engraving is of high quality. the rose has polished detailing and thed efinition within the bud and leaves is very sharp.
This is an excellent example and it will merit a place in any collection.
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 6 1/8 inches tall with a 2 3/8 inch bowl and 2 9/16 inch foot.
