Georgian Engraved Colour Opaque Twist Wine Glass c1770

Description

A magnificant Georgian Engraved Colour Opaque Twist Wine Glass which dates to c1770.

It has a Pan Top Bowl engraved with fruiting vine above a colour opaque twist stem consisting of a pair of white thick ribbed coils outside a brick red corkscrew above a conical foot. English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 6 inches tall with a 2 1/8 inch bowl and 2 5/8 inch foot.

We have also included some pictures of a very similar example which sold at Sotheby’s in 1999. It was the only other similar example we could find. As you will see it sold for £3900 with our glass having he added desirability of having an engraved bowl.
