The Kongelig Allernaadigst Octrojerede Nordske Compagnie sent one Morten Waern known as Martin Warren to England on an act of industrial espionage to determine the secrets of the English glass industry.

Having tried to recruit glassmen in Liverpool he was sent to Newgate prison London to reflect upon his sins. He was released on bail and in 1755 and fled the country.  Several English glass workers arrived in Noway together with many more from Germany where the “company” had sent other agents. The names of the English glass workers who migrated together with their families to the Hurdal and Nostetangen factories are documented.

The colour of this glass is consistent with two previous examples that were positively identified as originating in Norway. It is possible that this may be a third example.
