Description
The engraving on the bowl of this Georgian cordial glass is a good example of the transition in style between the florid. asymmetrical and expressive rococo and the more geometric neo-classical. The cross hatched lenses and tassels typical of neo-classical engraving and adjoined by typical rococo floral motifs. The base of the bowl is flute moulded. The stem features a pair of spiral threads outside a vertical gauze column. Conical foot with a snapped pontil. The bowl is one of the smallest that we have had on a cordial and an excellent example in superb condition.
Height 6 3/4 inches. Bowl 1 5/8ths inches. and Foot 2 13/16th inches diameter. English lead. no chips cracks or restoration.
