Description
A Georgian double series opaque twist saucer top wine glass c1760.
This is a rare bowl type with an excellent twist. To fabricate this form a glass blower has flared and formed the rim of a bucket bowl. The opaque twist stem features a spiral tape and a spiral gauze. an elegant combination. The glass is slightly lazy. it leans to one side. When the foot was adhered to the stem the plane of the foot rim and the stem were not at right angles after it annealed and cooled. This is a common occurrence in 18th century handmade glass.
English lead. no chips. cracks or restoration. It has a pin prick on the upper rim of the foot as shown and some minor scratches at one section of the inside of the bowl. again very minor. It measures 6 1/4 inches tall with a 2 5/8th bowl and a 2 3/4 inch foot.
