Cutting on the bowl of opaque twist stem wine glasses is rare. Only our third example. The cutting is irregular and this may be explained simply by the fact that the cut area of the bowl does no present a monotonic and uniform surface and this increases the complexity of calculating a uniform design. This is not an early English cut glass, examples form the late 17th and early 18th century are known, it is just an unusual embellishment to an opaque twist.
