* The use of engraved carnations in combination with other symbols including flowers can be indicative of sympathy for the cause celebre of the day. In isolation it may simply be a decorative device. roses were also engraved simply to embelish a glass. It is fool-hardy to give Jacobite credentials to every engraved flower and every set of Prince of Wales Feathers unless it is a means to fraudulently over inflating a price.
