This has a good thick stem. This single attribute is enough inspire almost groundless claims of Irish origin that ignore the fact that the glass tax was not passed by parliament until 1746 and the fact that the free trade agreement with Ireland was not passed into legislation until 1780. Hansard provides clear and direct evidence that the Irish Glass industry prior to 1783 was incapable of producing glass in any quantity and indeed meeting domestic demand within Ireland.
