Obverse: Profile bust of Orodes. left (notice the faint wart on his forehead. a family feature shown to prove decent according to Sear)
Reverse: King seated holding Nike with inscription in seven lines. Seleukid date below king’s right hand =c40BC

Features and Provenance: Orodes was king of the Partian Empire from 57 to 37BC. present day Iran. Along with his brother. he killed his father to gain the throne. but their alliance was short lived and they fell out. becoming bitter enemies. both vying for the throne. Ultimately. Orodes won out and became the sole king. naming himself King of Kings. Unfortunately for him. history repeated itself and he was murdered by his own son!
