Features and Provenance: Nerva was emperor from 96 to 98 AD. He came to the throne at the age of 66 after spending most of his life in service to Nero and the Imperial Court. but his reign was marred by his inability to assert his authority over the army. Having no children. the Praetorian Guard insisted that he adopt a successor and he chose Trajan. The Senate declared ‘damnatio memoriae’ after his predecessor. Domitian. died and they re-worked all of his statues to look like Nerva! Recycling was even a practise then! His coins are sought after due to their scarcity.

Uncirculated (U). As struck with no traces of wear
Extremely Fine (EF). Very slight traces of wear. all parts of legend etc present. visible and clear
Very Fine (VF). Some signs of wear on the higher parts of the relief. all parts of legend etc present. but maybe worn
Fine (F). Wear on the coin and parts of legend etc may be missing or not visible
