A Roman silver denarius from struck in 208AD. Emperor Septimus Severus travelled to Britain in 208AD and is perhaps best known for his strengthening of Hadrian’s Wall and failed invasion of Caledonia. modern day Scotland. He died of an infectious disease in York in 211AD. This was discovered in a field in Sussex.
