Matidia. and when Sabina married Hadrian in 100 AD. it would have seemed that Hadrian was set for an imperial future. They had a 37 year marriage but it was childless and rumours were rife that it was an unhappy marriage with him treating her little better than a slave. but these are probably groundless. He ascended to the Imperial throne in 117 AD but she was not made Augusta until 128 AD. it is not known why there was a delay. She died in 136. a year and a half before her husband.

Vesta is the goddess of hearth. home and family; offerings and sacrifices made to the gods of the home were thrown into the hearths flames.
