Features and Provenance:  It has been calculated by a genealogist. that nearly every Briton is related to Edward III! Whether true or not. he and his wife. Phillippa of Hainault had eight sons and five daughters. so there was a large gene pool to start with. 

During this period the Black Death. caused by bubonic plague was rife. killing 200 million people world-wide. It lasted for four years and three of Edward’s children died from the disease. 

 

 

Condition Summary. This varies with the age of coin and there are grades in between

Uncirculated (U). As struck with no traces of wear

Extremely Fine (EF). Very slight traces of wear. all parts of legend etc present. visible and clear

Very Fine (VF). Some signs of wear on the higher parts of the relief. all parts of legend etc present. but maybe worn

Fine (F). Wear on the coin and parts of legend etc may be missing or not visible
