Edward III was king of England and Lord of Ireland from January 1327 . His military success restored royal authority after the disastrous reign of his father. Edward II. His eldest son. Edward Duke of Cornwall became known as the Black Prince and was famous for his chivalry and bravery on and off the battlefield.
