Condition: Almost very fine. good portrait. slightly clipped

Obverse: Crowned facing bust. trefoils at neck. bordered with a tressure with fleurs on the cusps. EDWARD DI GRA REX ANGL Z FRANC. long cross fitchee initial mark

Reverse: Long cross over a trefoil of pellets in each quarter. legend in two circles around. POSVI DEVM ADIVTOREM MEVM. CIVITAS LONDON. sun initial mark

Size and Weight: 25mm. 2.56g

Features and Provenance: This historic coin was minted during the House of York’s first visit to the throne in 1461. Edward controversially married Elizabeth Woodville (the ‘White Queen’) in 1464. but the throne was lost in 1470 as a result of the unrelenting struggle for power with the Lancastrians. known as the ‘War of the Roses’. His second reign during 1471-83 brought relative peace to the country. He had ten children with Elizabeth. seven of which survived him.

Extremely Fine (EF). Very slight traces of wear. all parts of legend etc present. visible and clear

Very Fine (VF). Some signs of wear on the higher parts of the relief. all parts of legend etc present. but maybe worn
