Description
This is a rare tall Georgian Opaque Twist Custard Cup which dates to 1820.
It has a Cup Bowl with an applied loop handle at one side. Sits on a Single Series Opaque Twist stem consisting of 3 spiral tapes above a conical foot which has a rough snapped pontil.
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 4 ¾ inches tall with a 2 5/16 inch bowl and 2 11/16 inch foot. A few light scratches to the bowl at one side where it has rubbed against another glass. but its not in any way serious.
You can still see the original tool marks on the top edge of the foot rim.
In all the years we have been selling Opaque Twist glasses. this is the very first time we have had a tall Custard Cup and we know of no other examples presently offered on line on any web site.
