18th Century Plain Stem Wine Glass c1750

Colour : Clear, outstanding grey-blue hue
Bowl : Bell shaped, excellent tooling marks
Stem : Thick plain
Foot : Folded conical
Pontil : Snapped
Glass Type : Lead 
Size :  15.4cm height,  6.6cm diameter bowl, 7.1 cm diameter foot 
Condition : Excellent, no chips or cracks, The bubble in the bowl has not burst through
Restoration : None 
Weight:  188 grams 

This is a weighty example and evidently has a high lead content glass. The colour and thickness of stem in tandem are invariably attributed to Irish manufacturers. For this to be plausible then it must have been made around 40 years later than specified. We see almost no merit in this argument although we fully appreciate that Irish glass does attract a premium and, as a result, some ridiculous and scandalous attributions.
