Description
From Italy or possibly Spain Catalonia mid 17th cen. Albarello is the Italian term for a pharmaceutical jar that has a waisted body a cut in neck and a wide opening.
Albarelli with vertical white trails such as this one may have been used not only for storage but also for transporting spices and drugs the indented neck helped to seal the opening with a tied piece of cloth.
The straw colour of this example along with the thin white trails could suggest a Spanish origin from the mid 17th century.
