Bowl : Roun funnel – engraved with a cartouche and anchor containing JG monogram. Above is “NELSON AND WARREN FOREVER” – to the reverse is a bacchanalian figure sat atop a barrel holding two glasses of wine. Fruiting vines spring from the barrel.
Stem : Slice cut with blade knop.
Foot : Square
Pontil : Broad polished

The Warren in question is almost certainly Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren rather than Vice-Admiral Frederick Warren. John Warren was a significant officer in the American Revolutionary War, the French Revolutionary wars (most notably in quelling Irish Rebellion), the Napoleonic wars, and the War of 1812.
