Note the bright colour of the glass. There are also no marvering lines on the stem. The cutting is deep and has sharp edges, there is no fritting at the edges of the cuts. There is a complete absence of wear on the underside.

It is also worth noting that in British Glass 1800-1914 by Charles Hajdamach Pg. 106 he states “… there is one story from a Stourbridge firm in the 1930s which tells of the company employing a retired glass maker to sit on the front doorstep and grind the feet of wine glasses to give them the required amount of age.”

This glass has escaped that treatment but we have an identical glass that has not. To describe this as a fake would be unfair as little effort has been made to disguise it’s origin and more importantly the age of the glass. However, the fact remains that they have fooled many auctioneers and collectors alike.
