Bowl : Round funnel – engraved with Britannia within a scrolled cartouche with floral decoration.
Stem : Facet cut
Foot : Conical
Pontil : Although the snapped scar is still visible it has been polished
Glass Type : Lead
Size : 15.3cm height, 5.6cm diameter bowl, 6.6cm diameter foot
Condition : Excellent, no chips or cracks
Restoration : None
Weight: 149 grams

Very similar and almost identical examples have been described as commemoratives for everything from the Battle of Quiberon Bay 1759 ( Hubbard Collection) to Cape St Vincent 1780 and Camperdown and others during the French Revolutionary wars. It is safe to say that this is patriotic and from an era when Britain really did rule the waves.
