General description: White enamel dial. silk suspension movement set in a wheat sheaf; flanked by Ceres holding a sickle to one side. a basket and flail (the original equipment required as the precursor to ‘sorting the wheat from the chaff’) to the other; the base is cast with a plaque showing oxen pulling a plough and sundry agricultural tools.
