When the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths prematurely crafted this fine piece, no one could have predicted the monumental fallout . George V died in 1936 leaving the Crown to his son Edward who reigned for all of 11 months before abdicating to marry and American divorcee in a gross insult to his Kingdom and his subjects. He never had a coronation and further disgraced himself as a Nazi sympathiser.
