Decoration : Central image, transfer and painted, of London Road Tunbridge Wells. This is within a van dyke border with an additional arrow type border. The side panels of the cover with keylines. Side panels with van dyke banding. Four applied bun feet. Interior with green paper lining.
Size : 20x15cm, 10cm height
Condition : Good, some minor lifting, a scratch runs on the left side panel about 6cm. The internal tray is absent and there is no key. Otherwise light wear commensurate with age

Weight :  470 grams

A label inside the box reads “The Entrance to Tonbridge Wells from London.” We believe this to be a later addtion by either a collector or dealer as Tunbridge Wells has never been spelt with an O as seen here. In 1871 Tunbridge, as it had been known, became Tonbridge as a result of post office confusion.

Despite being the far newer settlement Tunbridge Wells maintained its U.
