Bowl : The vase is enamelled with a band of flowers and rococo scrolls and marked M. Rest. The tankard  A Present From Brighton. Applied strap handle
Pontil : Snapped (Tankard) and Gadget mark (Vase) marked Decor Main Paris
Glass Type : Soda
Size : The tallest is 12.6cm tall and 4.8cm in diameter
Condition : Excellent. no chips or cracks

Additional Information : Milk glass is produced by adding tin oxide. antimony and traces of arsenic to molten glass. It was first produced in Venice in the 16th century possibly via the addition of bone ash. This was a respnse by glass makers to the importation of Chinese porcelain.

Seaside memorabilia was first produced in England in the early 19th century. The ale glass is most probably “Paris” memorabilia. Brighton itself was a down at heal fishing village prior to the royal patronage of the Prince Regent.
