Description
A Dutch Engraved Commemorative Ale Glass 1871
It has an engraved conical bowl with the coat of arms of the city of Amsterdam and a basket of flowers with engraved swags around the rim. It also has the date 1771 on the glass. Slice cuts to the lower section of the bowl which flows into a blauster knop. Plain foot which has Gadget tool marks on the pontil.
Lead glass. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 9 3/8 inches tall with a 3 1/8 inch bowl and 3 ½ inch foot.
The gadget tool marks on the foot would date this glass between 1860 and 1880. however it probably dates to around 1871 which would be a centenary of date it commemorates. We have no explaination at this time.
