Description
From 1890 to 1920 Richardson and Sons copied Georgian glass styles. they also specialised in making larger examples. Georgian glass copies were also made by Thomas Webb but these were more realistic in stature.
This English lead glass has a huge round funnel bowl. an lovely opaque twist stem with an 8-ply spiral band outside two pairs of spiral threads. Conical foot and snapped pontil. It all sounds Georgian so far. but the glass is way too bright. and please look at the dimensions. It stands 8 3/4 inches tall with a 4 1/8th inch bowl and a 4 1/4 inch foot. It holds half a bottle of wine if you wish to lose an evening immersed in a book.
