Description
A superb example of a Victorian Engraved Opaque Twist Goblet c1880.
Probably by Stevens and Williams it has a large round funnel bowl beautifully engraved with hop leaves. flowers and ears of barley . Sits on an Opaque Twist stem consisting of a pair of spiral threads outside a pair of 5-ply spiral bands. Conical foot snapped pontil. This was never intended to “deceive” it is a hommage to any earlier style from one of England’s finest factories.
English lead. no chips cracks or restoration. it measures 7 inches tall with a 3 5/8 inch bowl. The mossing on the wear rim has been ‘artificially’ applied in the past in an effort to age the glass …it fools no one. A good very useable wine.
