Description
A superb set of Six Victorian wine glasses c1880 which have flared conical bowls with prism and slice cuts to the bowls and hexagonal central knops. Sits on high conical feet again with prism and slice cuts.
These are the tallest glasses within a matched suite. The suite is comprised of four graduated sets of identical form with with a matching set of rummers. We have included an image of a five piece place setting. This size glass is the tallest at the rear of the group picture. We have also included an image of a painted renaissance goblet that mirrors the filigree of Murano. This glass dates from c1600 and simply oozes “italianate renaissance” charm. but it probably Bohemian.
The Victorian glasses are superbly executed and could be from any one of a number of Stourbridge factories. The Victorians had their renaissance revival not only in architecture and good style will always be good style be that in the 16th century or the 21st
They measure 7 7/8 inches tall with 3 ¾ inch bowls and 3 3/8 inch feet. They may be used for either red wine or as water glasses. with the remainder of the graduated place setting to be used for white wine. dessert wine and port.
English lead. no chips or cracks to any glass.
