Additional Information : Although this form was first introduced in the late 18th century these are late 19th century “revival” examples. Many factories produced glasses of Georgian form to meet the resurgent interest in those syles of a century earlier.
Note the chamfered corners on the base and also note the shallow dome on the underside of the foot. It is also worth noting that the upper surface area of the foot is larger than the underside of the foot. this is less pronounced on late 18th and early 19th century examples. This slight modification made it easier for the feet to be removed from the mould whne “pinched”.
Also note that the vertical faces of the foot are slightly concave and the complete absence of any chipping on the foot.
