We frequently see such glassware being sold erroneously as Georgian. Plain square based rummers with polished pontils from the early 19th century are to be found. A very few examples have eight point radial cutting on the underside of the foot. Later examples have more points within the radial pattern sixteen or twenty four and the width and length of the radial cuts are irregular as is the case with these examples. they are hand cut. Later 19th century examples with thirty two and even forty eight points are well known. These are tactile and weighty examples.
