This is not a 19th century drinking glass. or rummer. it is a punch bowl with a gallon capacity. The Lodge of Charity ( Lancashire) was Lodge number 439 from 1832 to 1863 and the lodge met at the Railway Inn. Stoneclough. Lancashire a little to the south of Bolton. The engraver has clearly made an error. Robert Roscoe was born in Bolton in 1761 and died in Farnworth. Lancashire but a few miles from the lodge where he had served as Worshipful Master (WM). the most esteemed position within a Lodge
