Additional Information : The silver plated “Gallia metal” cover compliments the design upon the glass. The firm that specialised in this was Baudet of Paris and they were employed by both Mont Joye and to a lesser degree Baccarat. However in this case there are manufacturers marks in the silver plated rim for . Manufacture de L’Alfenide. better known as Christofle.
The marks are a cockerel within a shield and GALLIA METAL together with a goats head which was used to denote silver plate. The strong similarities between these marks and those of WMF is not a coincidence. WMF copied the Alfenide marks.
