Description: Depicts harvesting by a river bank. a storm rolls in as the harvesters collect the wheat sheaves. A faint rainbow is visible between the storm clouds. 85x61cm.
Born in London in 1811 Joseph John Jenkins was initially trained by his father to go into the family trade of engraving. Jenkins abandoned this for watercolours and in 1842 joined the New Water Colour Society before leaving to join the Old Water Colour society in 1847. He specialised in portraits and landscapes and has been exhibited extensively both domestically and abroad.
