Bowl : Ogee. petal cut lower third. Engraved with cross hatched swags and tassels. and single bud rose. lily of the valley and a fern like device with parallel pairs of cuts on the stem. The fern is frequently deployed an yet it’s presence is rarely explained. In Gaelic culture the fern was widely used as a medicinal plant. if was also believed to have protective powers. It is the badge of the Clan Chisholm from the borders who were ardent Jacobite supporters. surrounded by those who supported the government.
