William Moorcroft

William Moorcroft the potter founded the great Moorcroft Pottery. He was born in Burslem Staffordshire in 1872. Following his studies in London and Paris he was given his first opportunity by the Staffordshire pottery James Macintyre as head of the art pottery studio in 1897

Moorcroft Florian Ware was a sensation and was awarded a gold medal at the World Fair in 1904. William Moorcroft founded his own factory at Cobridge in 1913 with the financial support of Liberty and Co and went on to become one of the most highly regarded potteries of all time.

Early Moorcroft has international appeal and is thus widely appreciated and collected.
