Friedrich Egermann was a true innovator. Hs company continues to this day and despite the fact that he passed away in 1864 they are still reproducing his designs. Like many formerly Bohemian now czech producers they are still taking inspiration form the past. Stained panelled glass wine glasses and vases have been produced since 1830 and onwards.
Buying from images is always difficult. Descriptions have to be accurate. This is a lead glass vase and that should start the alarm bells ringing. The gilding is almost pristine. there is an absence of wear. the glass is very clear and bright. free from inclusions……
Great design is timeless and this is a replica of a 19th century original. It is not intended to deceive. but it may deceive the inexperienced. It remains a stunning piece of glass
