This is in the facon venise style. The earliest glass salvers made form lead glass in the UK are attributed to Ravenscroft and Henley on Thames. These invariably have a flared hollow pedestal base with a folded foot. There are references with approximate dating within Keth Kelsall’s book on footed salvers.
The earliest designs have a up-curved rim. of which some are folded. They also have moulded designs at the centre of the salver. This is the first salver or tazza that we have sold with a hollow pedestal foot and onlt the second with a simple filded rim rather that a gallery. The others are all well documented and date form 1740 onwards. This will predate all.
