For the frosting not to appear beneath the lower neck ring. there must have been a resist painted onto the glass before this was dipped.
The handle was firstly fixed top the lip and then finished with a spade lower terminal this was very rarely used after 1850. It was found that affixing handles starting from the bottom with a cushion or claw lower terminal resulted in stronger more robust handles. The ribbon handle and those with rectangular profiles were also prone to cracking due to internal stresses resulting from non-uniform cooling rates across the cross section of the handle. These were replaced with circular cross section handles.
