Features and Provenance: This little piece of history was found by a detectorist and recorded by the authorities with find number NMS-76A861.
Gaming with dice has been a favourite pastime for hundred’s of years. The first written recorded mention of the game was in India from about 2.000 years ago. but dice have been found in Egyptian tombs. The game of knuckbones was played before this and have been seen depicted on Greek coins and early British dice have been found at Skara Brae from around 2.000BCE. Our die is neatly made and later production but none the less. it is full of history from its own turbulent period.
