It has a hinged mushroom top with a bayonet fitting. detachable cup with original internal gold gilding as shown. In perfect working order. no leaks.

Samspon Mordan is well known for inventing the propelling or mechanical pencil and were silversmiths held in the highest regard. Less well known is that they were effectively put out of business during the second world war when their factory at City Road EC1 near the Old Street round about was bombed. Propelling pencils attached to an “albert chain” were de-rigeur for the Victorian gentleman. Nobody wears fob watches these days. but hip flasks are still an accoutrement that no gentleman should venture forth without. they are timeless. Practical and very useful for keeping out the chill at Murrayfield. avoiding queues at the theatre and are a snub to outrageous British Rail prices for miniatures.
