The design was initially published in Livres de Chinois after the engravings of Pierre Charles Canot (from Jean Pillement’s originals) in 1758. In Robert Sayers tome of 1760 Ladies Amusement it shows the design having been adopted by R Hancock at Worcester.
This was made for beer not tea. It is a tankard not a mug.
