Description
A very rare pair of large Georgian mixing rummers c1820.
They have pouring sections with slice cuts to the sides and lemon squeezer type bases. English lead. no chips or cracks. one of them has what looks like a very old repair to the lip of the pouring section. It’s a thin sliver of applied glass on the lip edge. It was almost certainly added at the time of manufacture as one of the lips is slightly mishapen and has been there ever since. I actually like this as its very much part of the glass’s history. Some faint minor scratches to the inside of the bowls which is again through use and part of their history.
We have never had a better or more substantial example in the last 12 years. this is the only pair. and we don’t recall seeing any other examples so rather rare indeed.
They measure 5 ¼ inches tall and 3 ½ inches in diameter at their narrowest.
