Size and Weight: 13mm each. 8.6g
Features and Provenance: From a London barrister’s collection. The Roman word for dice was tessarae and they were made from: wood. bone or lead. Although gambling was not legal for most of the year it was allowed during Saturnalia. which became our Christmas! However. it was carried out illegally in all walks of life and playing dice was a favourite game. Our dice are probably European as British examples do not have opposites adding to 7!
