Decoration :Cover with topographical view of what Rockley describes in his book Topographical Tunbridge Ware as ‘Unnamed Victorian House’ – he suggests Somerhill House as an option. This is absurd, Somerhill was completed c1613 and is therefore not Victorian. More to the point it bears no resemblance to this image. Geometric border. Side panels with geometric banding. Front panel with unusual view of Eridge Castle – most similar although quite distinct from a view by Humphrey Burrows the elder. Base with Berlin-woolwork banding.

Condition : Very good – some splits and losses to the cover – most notably the back left corner.
