Additional Information : Trailing glass is always difficult to attribute as there were several well-known manufacturers such as Kralik and Loetz. We examine several characteristics such as; glass form. colour. trailing design/ thickness and iridescence.

Pallme-König characteristics: The trailing is of noticeably varying thickness. other companies favoured a more uniform finish. At the intersections some trails ‘meld’ together and others ‘overlap’. This is time consuming method. allowing some trails to purposely set is a signature. Secondly the vertical and horizontal trails are approximately equal in amount. other producers typically favoured the vertical or horizontal. Finally the trailing is ‘recessed’ into the glass.

A particularly interesting and highly individual aspect is the decoration on the cap and lid . Pallme-König specifically refer to their decoration as ‘spider trailing’. you will notice that the relief decoration strongly resembles a spiders web. Pallme-König produced the glass base and cap in matching design was external.

Varying shades of green were most commonly deployed. white/pink/orange/red hues were also used. Art nouveau was inspired from nature. the combination of natural colours and form and this alone explains the propensity of green coloured examples

Produced in Bohemia. but after the break-up of the Austro-Hungarian empire in 1918 Czechoslovakia. now the Czech republic
