Chelsea Plate Replacement By Samson ?

A mystery piece. the decoration is monochrome turquoise / green flowers and is a direct copy of production from Worcester c1775-80 and some work from Giles. Chelsea also produced the same style floral decoration with a red border during the red anchor period. these were copies. sorry heavily influenced by the output of Chantilly and Meissen. This plate is hard paste. and thus is not Chelsea. We believe it was made in Paris by Edmé Samson in the second half of the 19th century. The Red anchor mark is too puce and a little too large to be Chelsea. the fritt is wrong for a period piece but it is still an attractive antique. It may be a replacement for a Chelsea dinner plate or made with the intention to deceive. but Samson in their defence are known to have made replacements for many pattern services.
An interesting piece of history and at a fraction of the price of a Chelsea original.
