Eric Knowles Comments :
Piero Fornasetti said that he chose Lina Cavalieri for her archetypal beauty. It’s clear what he meant. Fornasetti designed more than 400 variations of her face. some winking. some crying. some in laughter. They became utterly iconic in the mid 20th century with Henry Miller using one on the front cover of his autobiography and Alberto Moravia dedicating an entire book to the variations Fornasetti produced.
